Well, that's Over the Limit done for this year. It had some pretty interesting matches, and I feel like sharing my thoughts on them:
1st Match: 20-man "People Power" Battle Royal with the winner being able to get a title shot for the U.S or Intercontinental Title later that night.
Winner: Christian
Last Eliminated: The Miz
Time: 13:12
Well I must say, this was a pleasant surprise. With Christian's injury, I'd forgotten about him and now he gets an Intercontinental title shot? Sweeet. Although, I never knew this match was booked, to be truthful.
2nd Match: Kofi Kingston and R-Truth (c) vs Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger for WWE Unified Tag Team Championship
Winners: Kingston and Truth
Time: 12:12
I'm pleased with this outcome. I mean, I HATE Vickie's character (I like her IRL though) and I idn't want to see her get the satisfaction of having her clients win (seriously, I'd respect Ziggler and Swagger much more if Vickie would just break off from managing them). As a plus, I didn't want to see Kingston and Truth lose the belts in their first defence. *coughBIG SHOWcough*
3rd Match: Layla (c) vs Beth Phoenix for the WWE Diva's Championship
Winner: Layla
Time: 7:08
Well, I'm happy that Phoenix didn't win the championship again, but at the same time, I'm disappointed. Mostly because I wanted Layla to keep the championship since she's my favourite diva (after Trish Stratus and Lita) and I wanted Phoenix to win since she's truly a great diva to me. It was hard to choose, but my nostalgia shades directed me to root for Layla.
4th Match: Sheamus (c) vs Alberto Del Rio vs Randy Orton vs Chris Jericho for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Winner: Sheamus
Time: 15:52
OK, I really didn't know who to root for here. Del Rio is a great heel and wrestler (even more so if he'd get rid of Ricardo), Orton I generally tend to overlook, and Jericho since he's also a great heel & wrestler (and a nice guy IRL). But in the end, I went with Sheamus since he's a great wrestler and as a plus, he really deserves the title if anything because of his in-ring ability.
5th Match: Brodus Clay vs The Miz
Winner: Brodus Clay
Time: 4:08
Urgh, ANOTHER Brodus Clay squash match. Seriously, Brodus is going absolutely NOWHERE with these matches and if anything these are becoming nothing more than filler. Put Brodus in some REAL competition for once rather than using him as filler!
6th Match: Christian vs Cody Rhodes (c) for the WWE Intercontinental Championship
Winner: Christian
Time: 7:18
I'm really pleased with this result. Mostly because I'm bitter over the anticlimax that was Extreme Rules where Big Show lost this title in his first defence. That... was not a good way to bring about the end to what was otherwise a solid looking reign. But I digress. Since Cody won the championship in the anticlimax to Show's reign, I've been hoping he wouldn't have another insanely long reign. Thankfully, Christian brought about an end to his second reign. And I'm thankful for that.
7th Match: CM Punk (c) vs Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship
Winner: CM Punk
Time: 24:04
I didn't really mind the winner of this match. I was rooting for Punk because I simply like him and I was rooting for Bryan due to his technical ability. Now that I've looked up what happened on WWE.com though, things look weird. Punk was apparently "visibly tapping out" during the pin, and he still scored the 3 count. Could this mean that a rematch is on the way?
8th Match: Ryback vs Camacho
Winner: Ryback
Time: 1:48
Oh for GOD'S SAKE ANOTHER RYBACK SQUASH MATCH?! WORKED INTO A PPV AGAIN?! This is outright unacceptable. If WWE want Ryback to be the next Goldberg, STOP FEEDING HIM CRUISERWEIGHTS AND JOBBERS! Goldberg didn't thrive on his streak with Cruiserweights and Jobbers and that earned him respect. That's all that Ryback is going through, and I'm not seeing him as a beast. I'm seeing him as someone who's just being purported to be be good at all of this. Not to mention he's doing all of these at PPVs? Are WWE just trying to tide the crowd over or something? *SIGH* This BETTER be leading up to something good...
9th Match: John Cena vs John Laurinaitis under the stipulation that if Laurinaitis would lose, he would be terminated as GM
Winner: John Lauriniaitis
Time: 17:04
Well... This is... interesting. I didn't really want Laurinaitis to win, but he won via interference from a fired Big Show. What could this mean? Why did Show do this? So many questions...
